«Development of the National Biosafety Framework»

In January 2003, the Republic of Croatia commenced implementation of the project entitled «Development of the National Biosafety Framework» as part of the UNEP-GEF global project on the «Development of National Biosafety Frameworks». The main objective of the Project is to prepare the Republic of Croatia for implementation of the Protocol on Biosafety (Cartagena Protocol), that was ratified in May 2002 (Official Gazette – International Treaties, No. 7/2002).
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning, which is the government authority responsible for Protocol implementation, shall act as the National Executing Agency of the Project.
