04 December 2009 - Presentation of the PHARE 2006 project 'Development of Hazardous Waste Management System, Including the Identification and Management of “Hot Spot Sites” in Croatia'

A formal presentation of the PHARE 2006 project 'Development of Hazardous Waste Management System, including the identification and management of “hot spot sites“ in Croatia' will be held on Monday, 7th December 2009 at 09:30 in the Hotel Regent Esplanade, Mihanovićeva 1, Zagreb. Mr. Richard Masa, Second Secretary, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Nikola Ružinski, State Secretary, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction and Mrs. Josipa Blažević-Perušić, State Secretary, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction, will address the participants.

The objective of this project is to assist the MEPPPC to improve the management of hazardous waste and polluted and contaminated locations in order to improve the environmental conditions and enforce the EU acquis. In line with Waste Management Strategy, Waste Act and EU waste management legislation requirements the project will be more specifically focused on providing assistance for further developing of hazardous waste management system in Croatia, establishment of management and remediation procedures of "hot spot sites”, further development of hazardous waste data collection system, improvement of the infrastructure for integrated hazardous waste management and increase of the ability of relevant governmental authorities to apply and enforce the acquis relating to national and EU-wide waste management requirements.
